Test Developing Manager II, XR – Google – Waterloo, ON
Google’s Devices & Services team is on a mission to combine the best of AI, software, and hardware — and they’re looking for a Test Developing Manager II, XR to lead the charge on quality for next-generation Extended Reality (XR) headset and glasses products. With the option to be based in Waterloo, Ontario (or San Jose, CA / Kirkland, WA), this is a rare opportunity to shape the testing culture behind some of the most innovative consumer technology being built today.
This isn’t your typical QA management role. At Google, test engineers write scripts, build automation tools, and architect testing frameworks — they don’t click through manual test cases. As a manager leading the XR Test Developing team, you’ll define strategy, grow a talented team of test developers, and partner across hardware, software, and product functions to bring cutting-edge XR products to market on time and at the highest quality bar.
About the Role: Test Developing Manager II, XR
Leading the XR Test Developing team means owning quality end-to-end for V0 Headset and Glasses products. You’ll set the vision for test strategy and automation, guide the development of robust test frameworks, and drive cross-functional collaboration with product managers, software engineers, and hardware developers. Your fingerprints will be on every product review, test plan, and infrastructure improvement initiative your team tackles.
This role calls for someone who thrives in a fluid, fast-moving environment and is genuinely excited about leveraging AI-powered tools to transform testing processes. You’ll be expected to mentor and grow your team while also engaging with executive-level stakeholders — balancing technical depth with strategic leadership at every turn.
