Maintenance Assistant – Costco – Montréal, QC

Costco Wholesale Canada is hiring a Maintenance Assistant at its Montréal Optical Lab (300 Rue Bridge). In this position, you’ll provide janitorial services, facility upkeep, and grounds maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. From cleaning production areas and offices to operating compactors and assisting with seasonal tasks, you’ll play a key role in supporting employees, equipment, and overall operations.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll handle cleaning, repairs, and safety checks across multiple areas of the lab and facility. Daily tasks include floor cleaning, trash removal, compacting cardboard, restocking supplies, and responding quickly to spills or hazards. You’ll also support grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal, landscaping, and minor facility repairs.

This position requires mechanical skills, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow safety protocols. By maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment, you’ll directly contribute to employee well-being, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence at Costco.

Requirements / Skills

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Driver’s license required
• Janitorial experience preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
• Ability to communicate in French (oral and written)

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain facility areas, including floors, restrooms, offices, and production areas
• Operate trash and cardboard compactors
• Perform window cleaning, light fixture maintenance, and minor repairs
• Assist with groundskeeping: snow removal, landscaping, and roof checks
• Restock cleaning supplies and perform inventory duties
• Provide courteous assistance to employees, suppliers, and members
