About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent

Each day starts at the Canada Post depot, where you’ll sort and prepare outgoing deliveries before loading your vehicle and heading out on your assigned route. Whether delivering by foot or by vehicle, you’ll be responsible for getting mail and packages to customers efficiently and accurately. At the end of your shift, you’ll return to the depot to unload incoming parcels for future delivery.

This is a temporary, on-call position, meaning your schedule will vary based on operational needs. Safety and physical readiness are key — you’ll need to be comfortable working in all weather conditions and handling packages of varying weights throughout the day.

Responsibilities

As a Letter Carrier with Canada Post in Thunder Bay, your daily routine will blend depot work with active outdoor delivery. You’ll play a direct role in keeping communities connected, and each responsibility below contributes to that mission.

• Sort and prepare the day’s mail and parcels at the depot before heading out on your route
• Load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and in compliance with driving regulations
• Deliver mail and packages by foot or vehicle to residential and business customers along your assigned route
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions throughout your shift, year-round
• Unload incoming parcels upon returning to the depot to support future delivery cycles
• Represent Canada Post professionally as the face of the organization in your community

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for candidates who are reliable, physically capable, and comfortable working independently in the field. Prior experience in customer service or delivery driving is an asset, but the key qualities they’re after are dependability, a valid licence, and the ability to stay on-call when needed.

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
• Physical fitness — ability to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry loads up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly
• All-weather availability — comfortable working outdoors in rain, cold, heat, and everything in between
• On-call availability to respond to scheduling needs as they arise
• English literacy — ability to read, write, and speak English (French also an asset)
• Customer service experience is a plus, as is prior delivery or driving experience
