About the role: GTM Specialist Solutions Architect (Mainframe)

As a GTM Specialist SA, you will provide advanced technical leadership for mainframe migrations and modernizations, unblock critical workloads, and own the technical bar for specialist artifacts and standards. You’ll guide field teams with reference architectures, whitepapers, and public content (e.g., AWS Summits, re:Invent) that accelerate customer outcomes.

Partnering with GTM peers, you’ll infuse technical insights into strategy, support local technical events and campaigns, and build a community of subject matter experts. You’ll also curate feature/availability requests from complex customer use cases to help prioritize AWS roadmap investments.

Requirements / Skills

  • 4+ years hands-on modernizing mainframe applications to cloud using refactoring approaches.
  • Experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, IMS, VSAM, PL/I, Assembler, REXX.
  • Knowledge of rehosting, replatforming, and refactoring strategies.
  • Proficiency with AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudFormation.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), exec-facing advisory credibility, matrixed sales experience, hybrid/public cloud depth, and tools such as Micro Focus, Blu Age, Astadia, AWS Mainframe Modernization Service.
