About the Role: General Merchandise Associate

As a General Merchandise Associate at Walmart Canada, your primary focus is delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining the appearance and organization of your assigned salesfloor area. You’ll greet customers warmly, promote products and services, assist shoppers in locating merchandise, and help them make purchasing decisions. You’ll also work recovery merchandise, assist with front-end coverage, and collaborate with fellow associates to ensure the floor is always properly staffed and looking great.

This role also carries an important responsibility around workplace safety. You’ll contribute to a clean, hazard-free environment by following Walmart’s company policies and procedures, completing safety sweep logs, and ensuring all displays and fixtures are secure. Teamwork and clear communication with your colleagues are key to keeping the store running at its best.

Benefits and Salary

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts at $17.75 per hour, with the final rate determined based on relevant experience. Responsibilities

Working as a General Merchandise Associate at Walmart Canada means no two shifts are exactly the same. You’ll balance customer-facing interactions with behind-the-scenes stocking and merchandising tasks, making sure both the customer experience and the salesfloor are consistently top-notch. Here’s a closer look at what you’ll be doing:

• Greet and assist customers in a polite, friendly manner — helping them locate merchandise, promoting products and services, and supporting their purchase decisions
• Resolve customer issues and refer concerns to the appropriate team members when needed
• Cover and zone assigned salesfloor areas to keep merchandise organized and easy to find
• Stock merchandise, downstock as applicable, apply product protection where required, and set and complete modulars including flex modulars and new shelf caps
• Move feature merchandise to its modular home and work recovery merchandise from the Customer Service desk and other store areas
• Assist with Front End coverage as needed to keep customer flow moving efficiently
• Communicate with fellow associates to ensure proper floor coverage is maintained throughout every shift
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment by following company policies, completing safety sweep logs, and ensuring displays and fixtures remain secure
