Costco’s Ottawa location at 1405 Blair Place is looking for an Electronics/Majors Sales Assistant to join their sales floor team. About the Role: Electronics/Majors Sales Assistant

As an Electronics/Majors Sales Assistant, your primary focus is providing exceptional service to Costco members browsing the major appliances, jewellery, and electronics sections of the warehouse. You’ll explain product features, demonstrate how items work, and help members load purchases onto their carts. Staying current with technology trends is part of the job — you’ll read industry publications and product reviews to sharpen your expertise.

Beyond member interactions, you’ll play an active role in keeping the department organized and well-stocked. This includes merchandising, setting up and maintaining product displays, managing security lock-up for high-value items, and coordinating with the Area Manager on pricing, promotions, and inventory status. Teamwork and attention to detail are key parts of succeeding in this position.

Responsibilities

Working in the electronics and major appliances department means your responsibilities span both customer-facing service and behind-the-scenes department upkeep. You’ll need to be equally comfortable engaging members on the floor and managing product displays, stock levels, and security. Here’s a breakdown of what the role involves:

• Assist members with questions about electronics, major appliances, and jewellery, demonstrating product features and explaining specifications
• Load purchases onto member carts and ensure a smooth, positive shopping experience throughout
• Stay current on product knowledge by reading industry magazines, product reviews, and testing merchandise firsthand
• Communicate with the Area Manager regarding merchandise quantities, pricing, delivery schedules, and promotional activities
• Maintain displays by setting up, cleaning, aligning, and facing products to merchandising standards
• Process member returns, check product condition, and ensure accurate signage and price marking throughout the department
• Stock merchandise by reviewing forklift driver lists and participating in merchandise moves
• Manage security lock-up for high-value items and keep the sales floor and lock-up area clear of debris
• Support other areas of the warehouse as needed

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who are product-savvy, member-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-moving retail warehouse environment. Prior sales experience is a definite asset and will be given preference during the hiring process. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in product knowledge and genuinely enjoys helping customers find what they need.

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred
• Sales experience is an asset — candidates with a sales background will be prioritized
• Must pass Costco’s PC/Electronics knowledge test as part of the hiring process
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with members and the Area Manager
• Ability to work in a physical environment, including stocking shelves and assisting with merchandise moves
• French language ability (oral and written) is required for applicants applying to Quebec locations
