About the role: Cashier Assistant
In this position, you’ll help keep checkout lines moving smoothly while delivering a high level of member service by:
- Greeting members, assisting with loading items onto the conveyor belt, and confirming packing preferences
- Packing member orders into boxes and transferring items to a separate cart or flatbed
- Checking packaging for tampering and following all safety and security procedures
- Assisting members with loading orders into vehicles when appropriate
- Running for items (merchandise, boxes, register supplies, item numbers) as requested by cashiers
- Transferring items not on the belt to a separate cart for cashier scanning
- Maintaining cleanliness of the register and front-end areas; addressing spills and trip hazards immediately
- Retrieving carts and flatbeds from the parking area (up to 8 carts at a time) and keeping the lot area clean
- Performing opening/closing tasks such as returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, and cleaning
- Operating the trash compactor and cardboard baler
- Supporting cashiers during promotions
