Responsibilities
The Cashier Assistant role is all about keeping the front end of the warehouse operating efficiently. From the moment members arrive at the register to when they head to their vehicle, you play a direct role in making their experience seamless. Here’s what a typical shift looks like:
- Greet members and assist them in loading orders onto the conveyor belt, determining packing preferences and answering questions
- Pack member orders into boxes and load them onto separate carts or flatbeds, checking packaging for any signs of tampering
- Assist members in loading their purchases into their vehicles when appropriate
- Run for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep lines moving
- Transfer items not on the belt to a separate cart or flatbed as cashiers scan them, following proper departmental procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of the register area and general front end, cleaning spills and trip hazards immediately
- Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking lot using a rope with a clasping hook, keeping the lot free of debris
- Perform opening and closing duties including returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, and cleaning
- Operate the mechanical trash compactor and cardboard bailer
- Support cashiers during various promotions and assist in other warehouse areas as needed
