Responsibilities
Working in Costco’s bakery department, the Cake Decorator handles a wide range of hands-on tasks that require both technical skill and attention to detail. Each shift involves following established quality and consistency standards while meeting the needs of individual member orders.
- Frost and fill cakes using a spatula, applying layers of filling and smooth exterior frosting to half-sheet cakes
- Decorate cakes using pastry bags and tips to create borders, figures, and personalised written messages per Costco formulas
- Read and interpret member special orders to select appropriate flavours, colours, and decorative patterns; follow up by phone if instructions are unclear
- Prepare cheesecakes by removing from baking pans, placing on cake pads, applying toppings, and garnishing per Costco standards
- Operate equipment including the whipping cream machine and cake slicing machine
- Slice fresh fruit for application to baked products
- Assemble and box finished cakes in pre-cut cardboard boxes and transfer them to the cooler, freezer, or wrapping area
- Maintain cleanliness of the decorating area and adhere to all safety and security procedures
- Support the team with additional bakery duties and assist in other areas of the warehouse as required
- Deliver courteous service to members, especially when handling or confirming custom orders
Requirements / Skills
