Bakery Associate – Walmart – Welland, ON

Walmart Canada’s Welland location is looking for a Bakery Associate to join their in-store team at 102 Primeway Dr. This is a temporary (fixed term) position with flexible scheduling across mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights — a solid opportunity to build hands-on experience in retail and food service while being part of a well-known Canadian retailer.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for keeping the bakery department looking its best and running smoothly. From stocking shelves with fresh breads, cakes, pies, cookies, and rolls to following strict food safety and cold chain compliance procedures, you’ll play a direct role in ensuring customers leave satisfied with quality products.

About the Role: Bakery Associate

As a Bakery Associate, your day-to-day will involve maintaining the visual standards of the bakery section, preparing merchandise by following thawing and baking guidelines, and making sure all products are correctly signed and priced. You’ll support both the operational side — ordering, markdowns, labelling — and the customer-facing side by keeping the department fully stocked and welcoming.

Attention to detail is key in this role. You’ll be expected to follow food handling and sanitation procedures, monitor sell-by and expiration dates, and ensure all displays are secured safely. Working alongside your teammates, you’ll help uphold Walmart’s commitment to quality and consistency across the department.

The minimum starting wage for this position is $18.05/hour, with the actual rate determined based on relevant experience. Responsibilities

Working in the bakery means balancing product quality, food safety standards, and strong customer service on a daily basis. Each task you complete — from stocking fresh product to following proper preparation guidelines — contributes directly to the experience customers have in-store.

• Maintain quality and visual appeal of bakery merchandise including bread, cakes, pies, cookies, and rolls
• Keep the department fully stocked and ready for business at all times
• Ensure all merchandise is properly signed and priced according to store standards
• Follow cold chain compliance protocols including thermometer calibration, temperature recording, and product rotation
• Adhere to food safety and handling procedures, including sanitation and cleaning routines
• Process ordering, clearance, and markdowns using proper signing, flagging, pricing, and labelling procedures
• Prepare bakery products by accurately following thawing and baking guidelines
• Secure all displays in a safe and proper manner at all times
