About the Role: Audiologist / Hearing Instrument Practitioner

As a Dispensing Audiologist or Licensed Hearing Instrument Practitioner, your primary responsibility is to assess hearing and recommend appropriate hearing instruments or referrals. You’ll conduct a full range of diagnostic and dispensing procedures — including air and bone conduction thresholds, speech testing, hearing aid evaluations, fittings, and verification. This hands-on clinical role also includes impression taking, shell repair, and hearing aid modifications.

Adherence to infection control protocols, privacy and confidentiality standards, and accurate record-keeping are all essential parts of the job. You’ll be expected to stay current on all hearing centre products and services while consistently delivering a high standard of care to every member who walks through the door.

Responsibilities

Working within Costco’s Hearing Centre, this role covers the complete scope of audiological and dispensing practice. Every day involves direct member interaction and the application of specialized clinical skills to ensure each member receives the right hearing solution for their needs.

  • Assess hearing using a full battery of diagnostic tests including history taking, air and bone conduction threshold testing, and speech testing
  • Recommend and dispense appropriate hearing instruments based on assessment results, or refer members when clinically appropriate
  • Fit and verify hearing aids through evaluations, fittings, verification, and validation of hearing instrument performance
  • Perform hands-on tasks including impression taking, shell repair, and hearing aid modifications
  • Maintain complete records and documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards
  • Adhere to infection control, privacy, and confidentiality protocols at all times
  • Stay informed on all hearing centre products and services to best serve members
  • Escort patients into the hearing testing facility and manage door access as required
  • Support warehouse operations in other areas as needed

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate holds a recognized clinical credential in audiology or hearing instrument dispensing, and is in good standing with the relevant provincial regulatory body. Costco values practitioners who bring strong communication skills and technical aptitude to every member interaction.

  • Master’s Degree in Audiology OR registration/licensing as a Hearing Instrument Practitioner with full dispensing qualifications in BC
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the regulatory College in BC and/or Member in Good Standing with the Provincial Association
  • Authorized or eligible to provide government-funded hearing services where applicable
  • Clinical experience in a dispensing or audiology setting is preferred
  • Attention to detail and technical aptitude for performing precise audiological procedures
  • Strong communication and counselling skills to guide members through the hearing care process
  • Organizational and time management skills to manage a steady flow of appointments efficiently
  • Proficient computer skills for documentation and practice management
