Area Manager II – Amazon – Ottawa, Ontario

Amazon is looking for a motivated, customer-focused Area Manager II to join our Fulfillment Center Management team in Ottawa, Ontario. In this role, you will lead a team of hourly associates and will be responsible for maintaining high levels of safety, quality, attendance, and performance during shifts. You will also play a crucial role in meeting our customer expectations by ensuring orders are delivered on time and to the right location.

Our operations workflow includes three major components: First mile (where products are housed and ready for order), Middle mile (where the orders are moved to your area), and Last mile (when products are delivered to the customer’s door). Despite variations in workflows, one thing remains constant: our dedication to delivering the best service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

As an Area Manager II, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Supporting, mentoring, and motivating your hourly workforce.
• Managing safety, quality, productivity, and ensuring customer delivery promises are met.
• Collaborating with teams like Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources to meet business objectives.
• Working in a physically demanding environment with variable temperatures and noise levels.
• Lifting up to 49 pounds and frequently pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching.
• Standing/walking for up to 12 hours during shifts.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 2+ years of employee and performance management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques.

Work Environment

This role requires the ability to lift up to 49 pounds, frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, and stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts. You will work in an environment with varying noise levels and temperatures, including outdoor loading areas.
