What Does an Area Manager Do?

As an Area Manager II, you’ll oversee daily operations within one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers. This involves managing safety, quality, and productivity while ensuring customer delivery promises are met. You’ll support and motivate a team of associates, collaborate with support teams, and play a key role in maintaining our operational workflow from the first mile to the last mile.

Your leadership will ensure that Amazon continues to innovate and exceed customer expectations. Whether you’re mentoring your team, driving process improvements, or solving logistical challenges, you’ll make a tangible impact in one of the world’s most advanced operations environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Support, mentor, and motivate your team of hourly associates.
• Operational Excellence: Manage safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises.
• Collaboration: Work with support teams such as Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, and Human Resources to achieve business objectives.
• Hands-On Work: Lift up to 49 pounds, climb stairs, and work in variable temperatures and noise levels.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements using performance metrics and lean techniques.

What You’ll Bring

• BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2+ years of employee and performance management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ years of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques.
