About the Role: Area Manager II

As an Area Manager II at Amazon, you’ll serve as a strategic operational leader responsible for coaching your team through daily challenges while building their long-term leadership capabilities. Amazon offers a competitive base salary for this position ranging from $75,000 to $105,000 CAD annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. As a total compensation company, the package may also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Responsibilities

As an Area Manager II, your day-to-day is a blend of people leadership, operational oversight, and strategic problem-solving. You’ll be accountable for keeping your department running at peak performance while ensuring every associate on your team is supported, coached, and set up for success.   • Collaborate cross-functionally with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources teams to develop and execute plans that meet business objectives
  • Diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced analytics and implement data-driven solutions
  • Facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership on department-level goals and priorities
  • Implement process improvements that can scale across 200+ associates and multiple workflows
  • Conduct planning sessions with your team, coaching associates through operational challenges and developing their leadership capabilities
  • Perform physical duties as required, including lifting up to 49 lbs, standing/walking for up to 12 hours, climbing stairs, and working in variable temperature environments

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is seeking a candidate who brings a strong foundation in team management and operational leadership, paired with the analytical mindset to improve processes at scale.   • 2+ years of employee and performance management experience — demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and hold teams accountable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience in lieu of degree
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays as required by the business
  • Experience managing large teams (50+ members) is a strong asset, as is familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen methodologies
  • Process improvement experience including performance metrics analysis and lean techniques is preferred
  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field is an asset
  • Industry experience in shipping/logistics, manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, retail, or customer-service environments is a plus
