Software Development Engineer II – Amazon – Vancouver, BC
Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC is looking for an innovative Software Development Engineer II to join our Prime Tech team. With over 200 million members in 17 countries, Amazon Prime delivers premium services in shopping, streaming, and exclusive benefits, providing a fast and seamless experience for customers.
In this role, you’ll work alongside talented engineers and business teams to design and implement new features, leverage cutting-edge technologies, and tackle complex challenges in large-scale software development. You’ll use languages and technologies such as Java, Perl, and Linux, building robust and highly scalable services that bring the Amazon Prime experience to life.
Position Overview: Software Development Engineer II – Prime Tech
As a Software Development Engineer II at Amazon Prime Tech, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to support Amazon’s global Prime membership. In this role, you will work within a highly collaborative team to build scalable, customer-centric applications that transform the way customers experience Amazon Prime.
Your responsibilities will include designing system architecture, creating well-documented code, and optimizing system performance to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for millions of Prime members. You’ll also play a key role in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and continuously improving our technology infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer II, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing scalable solutions that enhance the Prime experience, utilizing technologies such as Java, Perl, and Linux.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement new Prime features and address customer needs.
- Optimizing system architecture for performance, scalability, and security to support the vast scope of the Amazon Prime program.
- Driving continuous improvement through code reviews, adherence to coding standards, and identifying areas for system optimization.
- Ensuring adherence to development best practices including rigorous testing, quality assurance, and deployment protocols.
Basic Qualifications
Applicants for this role should meet the following qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
- 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- 3+ years of experience in full software development life cycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
