In this full-time position, you will collaborate with business leaders, software engineers, and fellow scientists to deliver algorithmically managed ads using machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and R techniques. You’ll take ownership of significant products from conception to launch, bridging the gap between experimental research and production through efficient computational pipelines. About the Role

As an Applied Scientist II, you will be crucial in enhancing Amazon’s advertising marketplace. Key Responsibilities

  • Apply machine learning and analytical techniques to create scalable solutions for business problems.
  • Collaborate with software engineering and product teams to implement models and develop new features.
  • Identify opportunities for current model improvements and develop new models to benefit the business.
  • Work with scientists within the Ads organization to share learnings and advance the state-of-the-art.
  • Establish automated processes for data analyses, model development, validation, and implementation.
  • Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in building models for business applications.
  • PhD, or Master’s degree and 4+ years in Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CE), Machine Learning (ML), or related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
  • Experience in areas like algorithms, data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, and high-performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong publication record with novel research contributions.
  • Experience in applying ML/DL/RL models to practical problems.
  • Expertise in working with big data using tools like Spark, EMR, etc.
  • Experience with AWS and data-oriented tools such as SageMaker, ElasticSearch, Airflow, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Scala, Java, or Python.
  • Experience in the online advertising domain, particularly ad targeting and serving.
