Amazon is seeking a Pharmacy Manager to oversee the operations and compliance of a small-format pharmacy site, ensuring safety, quality, and exceptional customer experiences. In this role, you will lead a team of technicians and pharmacists, mentoring them to achieve high performance while fostering leadership development.

Your hands-on involvement will span every aspect of the operation, from dispensing medications to managing prescription fulfillment, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a steadfast commitment to patient safety and customer service.

About the Role

As the Pharmacy Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the pharmacy’s daily operations, ensuring that safety, quality, and performance standards are consistently met. You’ll collaborate closely with co-located facilities and transportation teams to manage same-day deliveries and ensure that physician medication orders are accurate and appropriate. Your leadership will be crucial in driving quality initiatives, implementing process improvements, and championing Lean initiatives to exceed operational goals and enhance the customer experience.

In addition, you will stay informed about and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal laws governing pharmacy practices. You’ll coordinate with Amazon’s corporate legal team to maintain licensure and ensure compliance with accrediting and licensing bodies such as the BOP, VIPPS, URAC, DEA, FDA, and USP. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Manager, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring overall safety, quality, and performance within the pharmacy operations, with a focus on customer experience.
  • Managing daily operations within the site, including meeting CPT times for same-day deliveries.
  • Evaluating physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration.
  • Setting and clarifying performance expectations for the team, providing feedback and holding the team to high standards.
  • Driving quality initiatives and process changes to meet and exceed operational goals.
  • Managing workflow and escalations in partnership with the Sr. Pharmacy Operations Manager.
  • Staying informed and compliant with local, state, and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Coordinating with the legal team to maintain pharmacy licensure and monitor licensure requirements.
  • Aligning policies and initiatives with accrediting and licensing body requirements.
  • Driving talent development through leadership, employee engagement, training, and succession planning.

Experience & Education

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following qualifications:

  • Doctorate or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Active/Good Standing Pharmacist license in domicile state.
  • 1 year of Staff Pharmacist experience within Amazon Pharmacy.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations surrounding pharmacy practices and patient safety.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, and prioritize.
  • Ability to manage details, establish root cause, and extract and manipulate data.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications that would make you an ideal candidate include:

  • 2+ years of direct management experience, including managing a salaried workforce in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.
  • Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and terminations.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop others into higher levels of leadership within an organization.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • An analytical thinker with project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence others.
  • Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple Fulfillment Centers across the nation.

Compensation & Benefits

Amazon offers a competitive salary range of $94,500 – $165,500 for this position. The starting salary within this range may vary depending on your experience, expertise, and education. In addition to a rewarding salary, Amazon provides a comprehensive benefits package, including:
