Maintenance Journeyman (Millwright) – UPS – Lachine, Quebec – $30.00/Hour
UPS is currently hiring a Maintenance Journeyman (Millwright) to support the package sorting system, including belt conveyors, at our state-of-the-art Montreal Automated Hub. This full-time, permanent position plays a crucial role in ensuring that UPS package handling facilities operate efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Journeyman (Millwright), you will be responsible for a wide range of maintenance activities, ensuring that all equipment and systems operate effectively. You will work closely with other team members to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
- Troubleshooting, adjusting, and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, and timers.
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as puck sorters, flow splitters, diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
- Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating.
- Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.
Compensation & Benefits
UPS offers a competitive pay rate starting at $30.00 per hour for this position, with opportunities for overtime. In addition to your salary, UPS provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- Weekly pay (every Friday).
- Automatic pay progression as per the existing union Collective Agreement.

Basic Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following basic qualifications:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid 5760 Industrial Construction and Maintenance Mechanic or 5781 Automated Systems Electromechanic Certification of Qualification is highly preferred, but extensive relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience performing maintenance on industrial equipment.
- Ability to receive and give instructions over radio in an industrial environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
While the basic qualifications are essential, the following preferred qualifications will help you stand out as a candidate:
- Experience performing maintenance on conveyor belts.
- Knowledge of plumbing and building schematics.
- Knowledge of keyboard and basic computer skills.

Working Conditions
This position offers the opportunity to work in one of UPS Canada’s largest state-of-the-art automated sorting facilities. While most of the work is indoors, there may be occasional outdoor tasks, exposing you to varying temperatures.
You should be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 49 lbs, standing, and walking for extended periods. Flexibility to work in a 24/7 operational environment is required.
