Transportation Associate – Amazon – Manchester, CT (USA)

This role is DOT-regulated and follows FMCSA regulations. As an Amazon Transportation Associate, you will operate various commercial motor vehicles while adhering to safety and company regulations. Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid state driver’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL.
About the Role
As a Transportation Associate, your responsibilities include conducting semi-trailer moves, supporting site operations, and ensuring timely arrivals and departures of trailers. You will operate commercial motor vehicles, perform yard audits, and comply with DOT regulations. This role involves being on the road up to 75% of the time, driving multiple vehicle types, and handling yard management duties.
Additional tasks include generating reports, handling communication with team members, and maintaining a safe, organized yard environment. You’ll use your skills to assist in driver training programs and support operations at various site locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
- Support internal operations teams and manage yard activities.
- Operate commercial motor vehicles on public and non-public roads.
- Perform driver vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues.
- Assist with loading/unloading trucks using approved equipment.
- Work up to 12-hour shifts, with flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays.
- Obtain and maintain Driver Qualification File (DQF) and CDL as a condition of the role.
Basic Qualifications
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Valid driver’s license and 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to work 40 hours/week and handle flexible shifts.
- Physical ability to lift up to 49 pounds and work long shifts.
- Willingness to drive up to 75% of the time and obtain a CDL.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Prior experience as an Amazon TOM Associate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Peer Driver Trainer (PDT) experience.
