About the Role: Transborder Specialist

This position is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of import and export road freight operations — from booking through to final delivery. You’ll work closely with carriers, customs brokers, vendors, and border partners to keep shipments moving efficiently while maintaining strict compliance with transportation and customs regulations in all three countries. Accurate documentation, proactive communication, and sharp attention to detail are essential components of this role.

You’ll also collaborate cross-functionally with internal sales, customer service, and product teams to deliver a seamless experience for clients. Whether it’s resolving a service disruption, ensuring timely customs clearance, or staying current on evolving transborder regulations, you’ll be the go-to specialist for ground freight across the North American corridor. The role reports directly to the Head of Ground Freight, Canada.

This position offers a base salary ranging from CAD $47,000 to $65,000, plus a 7% bonus and a full benefits package. Responsibilities

As a Transborder Specialist, you’ll manage the complete operational flow of cross-border road freight shipments across the Canada–U.S.–Mexico corridor. These responsibilities are central to ensuring that customers receive timely, compliant, and well-coordinated logistics service at every step of the journey.

  • Coordinate and manage all cross-border import and export operations from booking through to final delivery
  • Liaise with carriers, vendors, brokers, and border partners to secure capacity and actively monitor shipments
  • Prepare, review, and process required transborder documentation including bills of lading and customs documents
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian, U.S., and Mexican transportation and customs regulations
  • Monitor shipment milestones and proactively communicate updates to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with customs brokers and border authorities to facilitate successful and timely clearance
  • Resolve operational issues, service failures, or transportation disruptions in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain accurate shipment data in internal systems and ensure all documentation is complete and up to date
  • Work collaboratively with sales, customer service, and product teams to ensure a strong overall customer experience
  • Stay current on transborder regulations, industry developments, and best practices

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings 2–3 years of direct experience in road freight, cross-border transportation, or logistics operations, along with solid knowledge of customs requirements and transborder processes across North America. DHL values candidates who combine technical logistics knowledge with strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach.

  • High school diploma required; additional education in logistics or supply chain is considered an asset
  • 2–3 years’ experience in road freight, cross-border transportation, or logistics operations
  • Knowledge of Canadian, U.S., and Mexican customs requirements and transborder processes
  • Understanding of LTL/FTL, bond movements, carrier networks, and cross-border operations
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with logistics management systems is an advantage
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle operational exceptions and multiple priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
