About the Role: Tire Installer

As a Tire Installer at Costco Surrey, you’ll be responsible for the full cycle of tire services — from driving member vehicles onto the hydraulic hoist, removing and mounting tires, balancing wheels, and performing 40KM torque checks. You’ll also assist members in choosing the right tires, process purchase and service invoices, and support the sales floor by stocking and organizing inventory.

Safety is central to this role. You’ll follow TIA R.I.S.T Standards, American Lift Institute guidelines, and all relevant Costco procedures. You’ll also communicate effectively with the Tire Centre manager, receiving departments, and buyers to keep operations on track and members satisfied.

Responsibilities

This role covers a wide range of tire installation and service tasks while also requiring strong member interaction skills. You’ll be moving between the install bay, sales floor, and lot throughout your shift, ensuring every member leaves satisfied and every vehicle is serviced safely.

  • Mount and balance tires on member vehicles using mounting machines and wheel balancers, attaching wheel weights to rims as needed
  • Drive member vehicles into the install bay, onto the hydraulic hoist, and park them in the lot after service is complete
  • Reset and relearn vehicle TPMS sensors using Costco-supplied reset tools
  • Perform 40KM torque checks and alert the manager or lead to complete the 10-point check and authorize vehicle release
  • Repair flat tires for members in accordance with Tire Industry Standards
  • Assist members with tire selection, answer questions, provide price quotes by phone, email, and in person using the 5 steps of selling
  • Process transactions accurately — including invoicing, receiving payment, handling credits, debit, and cheques, and processing warranty returns
  • Stock, tag, and organize tires on the sales floor and in steel storage according to the Tire Centre manager’s merchandising plan
  • Maintain a clean install and sales area by sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping throughout the day
  • Assist with propane refills once provincially certified, following all safety procedures and guidelines

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who are reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a physical, fast-paced environment. Previous tire installation or tire sales experience is a strong asset and will be given preference during the selection process.

  • Valid driver’s licence is required — you’ll be driving member vehicles in and out of the service bay
  • Costco Tire Certification — must pass the internal certification test
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory
  • Tire installation or tire sales experience is preferred and will give candidates an advantage
  • Provincial PP0-3 and TDG Certification (PTI 100-11) required for propane locations once hired
  • Ability to work efficiently and with urgency throughout the day in a physical, hands-on role
