About the Role: Tire Installer
As a Tire Installer at Costco Markham, your primary focus will be on balancing, installing, and rotating tires, mounting wheels, adjusting TPMS sensors, and performing flat tire repairs in accordance with Tire Industry Standards. You’ll be operating equipment such as impact guns, hydraulic hoists, wheel balancers, and Costco-supplied TPMS reset tools, all while following American Lift Institute and TIA R.I.S.T. standards.
Beyond the technical side, you’ll also assist members with tire purchase recommendations, handle invoicing, process payments, and maintain a clean and organized work area. At eligible locations, this role may also involve propane services once provincial certification is obtained. Working efficiently and following all safety and security procedures is essential throughout every shift.

Responsibilities
The day-to-day work of a Tire Installer at Costco covers a wide range of tasks, from operating hydraulic lifts and mounting equipment to assisting members and keeping the Tire Centre running smoothly. Each responsibility plays a role in maintaining the high standard of service Costco is known for.
- Install and rotate tires using impact guns, mounting machines, and hydraulic hoists in accordance with TIA R.I.S.T. and American Lift Institute standards
- Balance wheels using a wheel balancer and attach wheel weights to rims with a wheel weight hammer
- Reset and relearn TPMS sensors on member vehicles using Costco-supplied tools as required
- Repair flat tires for members in accordance with Tire Industry Standards
- Complete oil changes on select vehicles at oil service locations
- Assist members in determining tire needs, answering questions, and making product recommendations using the 5 steps of selling
- Process transactions accurately, including invoicing, receiving payment, handling cheques, credit and debit charges, and processing warranty refunds
- Stock, tag, and organize tires on the sales floor and steel storage in accordance with the Tire Centre manager’s merchandising plan
- Maintain cleanliness of the install bay and sales area by sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping throughout each shift
- Provide propane refill services where applicable, following all provincial safety procedures and guidelines
Requirements / Skills
Costco is looking for candidates who are reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment. Prior experience in tire installation or tire sales will give applicants a strong advantage in the selection process.
- Valid driver’s licence is required to drive member vehicles in and out of the service bay
- Costco Tire certification must be passed — training will be provided
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred
- Previous tire installation or tire sales experience is strongly preferred and will be given priority
- Propane certification (PP0-3 provincial certification and TDG from PTI 100-11 program) required for propane service locations, once hired
- Ability to communicate in French (oral and written) is required for Quebec locations
- Attention to safety and the ability to follow established procedures and standards consistently throughout each shift
