About the Role: Technical Sales Specialist II, Platform, Public Sector
As a Platform Technical Sales Specialist, you’ll partner closely with technical sales teams to position and differentiate Google Cloud solutions for public sector customers. You’ll serve as the customer’s primary technical advisor, leading conversations to understand their unique business challenges and crafting cross-pillar cloud solutions that address them head-on. Whether it’s Infrastructure Modernization, Application Modernization, Data Analytics, or Cloud AI, your expertise will guide customers from discovery through to implementation.
You’ll be equally comfortable engaging with hands-on technical stakeholders and presenting to executive leaders — blending sales acumen, market knowledge, and direct technical engagement to drive results. Collaboration across internal teams and supporting post-sales transitions are also key parts of this role, making cross-functional communication and follow-through essential to your success.
Benefits and Salary
The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is CAD $157,000–$161,000, plus bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. Individual pay is determined by work location and relevant factors including experience, skills, and education. Responsibilities
This role demands a blend of technical depth and business savvy. Day-to-day, you’ll be driving technical account strategy, leading customer-facing engagements, and ensuring seamless transitions from pre-sales to delivery. Every action you take directly supports Google Cloud’s mission to help public sector organizations transform through technology.
- Develop and own the technical account plan and strategy, actively participating in planning and supporting sales motions
- Combine expertise in sales, programming, and solutions development to demonstrate the value of Google Cloud Platform through complex demos, pilots, and workshops
- Build cross-pillar solutions, drive technical wins, and define initial delivery plans for customers throughout the solution phase
- Facilitate post-sales transitions by supporting pricing activities and handing off the final delivery plan to implementation teams
- Monitor progress against delivery plans and provide support to cross-functional teams during ramp, delivery, migration, or implementation phases
- Identify and pursue new business workloads by blending market knowledge, technical insight, and direct customer engagement
- Engage with executive leaders and technical stakeholders to present practical, value-driven solutions on Google Cloud
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a candidate with genuine cloud architecture expertise and a proven track record of engaging customers at both the technical and executive levels. The ideal applicant brings not just deep technical knowledge, but also the ability to translate complex solutions into clear business value. Experience in the public sector or customer-facing cloud roles is a strong asset.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
- 6+ years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
- Cloud development experience including on-premise development, virtualization, or containerization platforms
- Programming and systems design skills — experience with debugging, prototyping, demos, or customer workshops is essential
- Executive presentation skills — ability to engage and present confidently to technical stakeholders and senior leaders
- Preferred: Experience in Infrastructure Modernization, Application Modernization, Data Analytics, Cloud AI, Networking, Migrations, or Security
- Preferred: Experience with security concepts such as encryption, identity management, access control, and penetration testing
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to drive the full business cycle, from defining delivery plans to execution transitions
