Amazon Canada is seeking highly skilled PhD students for a full-time Applied Science Internship during the summer of 2026. This program focuses on advanced fields such as machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, automated reasoning, and robotics, offering the chance to apply cutting-edge science to solve large-scale, never-before-solved problems.
As an Applied Science Intern, you will design and develop end-to-end systems, create technical roadmaps, and deploy solutions into production. You will work closely with Amazon scientists and fellow interns to experiment, innovate, and deliver scalable results that support Amazon Science’s mission to deliver customer-obsessed innovation.
About the Role: Applied Science Intern (PhD Student)
The role demands a self-starter mindset, the ability to handle ambiguity, and strong attention to detail. You will collaborate across diverse teams to tackle complex business problems, leveraging both your scientific expertise and practical programming skills.
Interns are expected to work full-time (~40 hours per week) for up to 12 weeks, and must be located where their assigned team is based. Relocation and housing assistance are available for those living more than 50 miles from their internship location.
Benefits and Salary
The base salary for this position ranges from $149,300/year to $249,300/year, depending on experience and qualifications. Amazon also offers relocation assistance, potential equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
