Responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager for Firebase Studio, you’ll be steering a team at the frontier of AI-driven software development. Your day-to-day will blend strategic planning with hands-on technical leadership, ensuring your team is aligned, informed, and empowered to deliver exceptional results in a rapidly evolving field.

  • Set and communicate team priorities that support Firebase Studio’s goals, aligning strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams
  • Lead the design and implementation of solutions in developer experience and agentic AI
  • Drive knowledge sharing on the latest developments in AI, enabling the team to harness emerging advances effectively
  • Provide technical guidance across the broader organisation as partner teams explore contributions to the developer experience

Requirements / Skills

Google is seeking a seasoned technical leader who combines deep software development expertise with a proven track record in AI product development and people management. The ideal candidate thrives at the forefront of innovation, is energised by complex challenges, and knows how to bring out the best in a technical team.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
  • 8+ years of experience in software development
  • 5+ years of experience building and launching products that leverage AI to solve real customer problems
  • 3+ years in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects
  • 2+ years in a people management or team leadership role
  • 2+ years of experience developing AI agents to build developer tools and enhance the developer experience
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Preferred: 3+ years working within a matrixed organisation
