Senior Software Development Engineer – Amazon Ads – Toronto, ON, Canada
Amazon Ads is seeking a talented Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE III) to join the rapidly growing Recommendation Optimization Experience (ROX) team. This role is ideal for experienced engineers who are passionate about leveraging machine learning, big data technologies, and cloud services to build scalable systems that provide personalized insights and recommendations to advertisers. About the Role
As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and developing scalable systems that handle high-volume ad datasets, interface with external systems, and integrate advanced machine learning models.
You will work closely with product teams to turn concepts into impactful features optimized for performance, scalability, and maintainability. Additionally, you’ll mentor team members, promoting engineering excellence and helping drive the development of next-generation advertising technologies.
In this role, you will dive deep into both client and server systems to optimize performance and enhance maintainability and extensibility. You will also be responsible for proposing innovative tools, frameworks, and processes that improve the efficiency of the ROX team and the broader FORGE organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design and product teams to develop impactful advertising solutions.
- Lead system design and architecture for scalable and maintainable systems.
- Write clean, maintainable code and perform peer code-reviews to ensure best practices.
- Mentor team members and promote engineering excellence through knowledge sharing and leadership.
- Propose innovative tools and frameworks to enhance the team’s development process and system performance.
Basic Qualifications
To be considered for the Senior Software Development Engineer role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
- Experience in programming with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems, with a focus on scalability and reliability.
- Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Amazon prefers candidates with the following additional qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, source control, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
