Responsibilities

Each day as a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post involves a blend of physical work, route navigation, and direct customer interaction. Your reliability and attention to detail ensure that communities in and around Saint-Ambroise receive their mail safely and on time.

  • Project a positive and courteous manner when dealing with customers face-to-face along your route
  • Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across assigned routes
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure, including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
  • Ensure all mail is safely secured in your possession at all times during delivery
  • Process various Canada Post products and services, including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
  • Wear and display Canada Post identification visibly while delivering and collecting mail
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) as required throughout your shift
  • Operate a motor vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills

  • Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G — is mandatory
  • Satisfactory safe driving record is required; a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days will be needed upon selection
  • Access to a suitable vehicle meeting Canada Post specifications, including a minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1,415 litres), automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top, accessory power outlet, and a fifth door/hatchback (preferred)
  • Valid automobile liability insurance and willingness to notify your insurer of vehicle use for Canada Post deliveries
  • Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions
  • French language skills — French is essential for this position
  • Residency within 75 km of the Saint-Ambroise Post Office is preferred
  • Must be prepared to pass a pre-employment test and interview
