Responsibilities

Each day as a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, you’ll be responsible for the reliable and safe delivery of mail across your assigned route. From pre-route sorting to final drop-off, your work directly connects communities across the Laval region.

  • Sort and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across rural and suburban routes
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles in your assigned area
  • Secure mail in your possession at all times to protect the integrity of every item
  • Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
  • Wear Canada Post identification visibly while making deliveries and collecting mail from customers
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg as part of regular route duties
  • Operate a personal vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in doing dependable, independent work and is comfortable navigating diverse road and weather conditions. Canada Post is looking for organized individuals who can handle the physical demands of the role while maintaining a strong safety record.

  • Valid provincial driver’s licence (Class 5 or G) with a satisfactory safe driving record
  • Personal vehicle with a minimum cargo capacity of 100 cu ft (2,832 litres), a metal roof-top, accessory power outlet, and a fifth door or hatchback (preferred)
  • Automobile liability insurance covering vehicle use for Canada Post delivery purposes, with your insurer notified accordingly
  • Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions
  • English or French proficiency (either language is acceptable for this role)
  • Willingness to provide a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days if selected
  • Residing within 75 km of the Laval Post Office is preferred
