About the Role: Pharmacy Assistant

As a Pharmacy Assistant at Walmart Canada, you’ll support the Pharmacist in all technical and administrative aspects of prescription filling. From receiving prescriptions and entering patient data to selecting, counting, and labelling medications, your work directly supports the Pharmacist’s ability to focus on patient care. Responsibilities

The day-to-day work of a Pharmacy Assistant at Walmart spans both technical pharmacy tasks and general operational support. Every responsibility plays a role in ensuring the pharmacy runs smoothly and that patients receive safe, accurate, and timely service under the Pharmacist’s supervision.

• Receive prescriptions from patients while following provincial legal and regulatory requirements, assessing completeness including name, address, date of birth, allergies, and third-party information
• Perform computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist, including data entry, patient profile updates, price checks, and competent processing of written prescriptions with Latin abbreviations and dosage calculations
• Fill prescriptions under Pharmacist supervision by selecting appropriate products, performing accuracy checks (7-point, Visual, and DIN), counting/measuring medications, and labelling for pharmacist verification
• Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels, checking for and pulling expired medications monthly, writing up returns, ordering drugs and supplies, and using preferred wholesalers
• Uphold general housekeeping standards by keeping the dispensary clean, organized, and stocked with prescription-filling supplies such as vials, labels, and bags
• Manage clerical organization including filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, and correspondence, as well as completing administrative tasks such as accounts receivable and aged trial balance
• Assist with OTC operations including ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned by the OTC Manager or Pharmacist
