Pharmacy Assistant – Walmart – Saskatoon, SK

Walmart Canada’s Saskatoon location on Betts Avenue is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join their in-store pharmacy team. This is a Regular/Permanent hourly position that plays a direct role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring patients receive safe, accurate, and timely prescription services.

Day-to-day, you’ll be working at the intersection of healthcare and customer service — receiving prescriptions, entering patient data, filling orders under pharmacist supervision, and keeping the dispensary running smoothly. About the Role: Pharmacy Assistant

As a Pharmacy Assistant at Walmart Saskatoon, you’ll assist the pharmacist with the technical side of prescription filling and day-to-day pharmacy operations. From data entry and patient profile management to inventory control and clerical organization, your contributions directly free up the pharmacist to focus on patient care. You’ll also be a point of contact for customers at the pharmacy counter, making professionalism and a helpful attitude essential.

This is a team-oriented environment where accuracy, compliance with provincial regulations, and strong organizational skills are critical. You’ll work closely with the pharmacist to maintain a clean, well-stocked, and properly functioning dispensary while upholding all legal and safety standards required in a pharmacy setting.

Benefits and Salary

The pay range for this Pharmacy Assistant position is $17.60 – $23.10 per hour, with rate of pay determined based on relevant experience. Responsibilities

Working under the pharmacist’s guidance, the Pharmacy Assistant handles a wide range of technical and administrative tasks that keep the dispensary operating efficiently. These responsibilities require attention to detail, knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a regulated environment.

• Receive prescriptions from patients in accordance with provincial legal and regulatory requirements, assessing each for completeness including patient info, allergies, third-party details, and prescriber information
• Perform computer functions as directed by the pharmacist, including data entry, patient profile updates, refill processing, price checks, and report generation
• Fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, selecting and counting/measuring appropriate products, performing the 7-point accuracy program, labelling, and organizing for pharmacist review
• Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels, checking for expired medications monthly, writing up returns, ordering drugs and supplies, and using the preferred wholesaler where applicable
• Keep the dispensary clean and organized, maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring packaging and dispensing equipment is properly cleaned and maintained
• Handle clerical duties including filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, correspondence, and completing administrative support functions such as accounts receivable and journals
• Support OTC operations including stocking, ordering, and cashier duties as directed by the OTC Manager or pharmacist
