Pharmacist – Costco Wholesale – Winnipeg, MB

Costco Wholesale Canada is hiring a dedicated and licensed Pharmacist for its Winnipeg warehouse located at 4077 Portage Avenue. This position offers the opportunity to deliver direct patient care, dispense prescription medications, and educate patients in alignment with Costco’s high standards of service and provincial pharmacy regulations.

As a key healthcare professional within the Costco Pharmacy, you’ll provide exceptional service while ensuring medication safety, accuracy, and compliance. This role allows you to practice to the fullest extent of the expanded scope of pharmacy permitted by provincial laws, in a collaborative and supportive environment.

About the role: Pharmacist

The Pharmacist performs a variety of critical tasks including dispensing prescriptions, verifying therapeutic appropriateness, and educating patients on medication use. You’ll work closely with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal drug therapy and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate patient records, performing medication reviews, and administering injections or immunizations as permitted by provincial regulations. The role requires adherence to Costco’s safety, confidentiality, and operational standards, with a strong focus on patient care and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

• Dispense prescription medications and apply proper auxiliary labels
• Verify therapeutic appropriateness, monitor for drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications

• Provide patient education and counseling on prescription and over-the-counter products
• Perform medication reviews and manage therapy follow-ups
• Administer injections or immunizations where permitted by regulations
• Ensure accuracy and confidentiality in all patient records and communications
• Promote a culture of patient safety by following proper dispensing and incident management practices
• Participate in health and wellness clinics and other community outreach initiatives
• Maintain professional competence through continuous education and training

Requirements / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
• Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in the province of Manitoba
• Strong clinical knowledge and patient-care skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with pharmacy management systems
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and safety
• Ability to supervise pharmacy interns or students when needed
• For Quebec postings: proficiency in French (oral and written)
