About the role: Pharmacist

As a Pharmacist at Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd in Vancouver, you will oversee dispensing prescription medications, verify prescriptions and refills with prescribers, select therapeutic substitutions when appropriate, and educate patients on proper medication usage. You will maintain confidential patient records, collaborate with Registered Technicians, and conduct health and wellness clinics where permitted by provincial regulations.

You will also perform medication reviews, adapt and extend prescriptions under delegation or collaboration, administer injections where allowed, order and communicate laboratory tests as permitted, and participate in patient safety initiatives. Acting as Pharmacist-In-Charge in the absence of the manager, you will ensure smooth dispensary operation and supervise interns and students.

Requirements / Skills

  • Bachelor of Science or Doctorate of Pharmacy required.
  • Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in British Columbia.
  • Ability to dispense prescription medications and apply auxiliary labels accurately.
  • Skilled in checking prescriptions and OTC medications for interactions, allergies, contraindications, dose and frequency.
  • Experience verifying prescriptions/refills with prescribers and selecting therapeutic substitutions when allowed.
  • Competent in collecting patient medical history and maintaining confidential records.
  • Strong patient care and member service skills, including educating patients on medication usage.
  • Ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve drug therapy problems.
  • Experience conducting health and wellness clinics and documenting interventions as permitted.
  • Ability to adapt, extend, modify prescriptions under provincial regulations and administer injections where allowed.
  • Experience performing medication reviews, reconciliation, and therapy management under regulations.
  • Ability to order and communicate laboratory tests as permitted.
  • Focus on patient safety: reducing prescription incidents, reporting and managing incidents correctly.
  • Computer proficiency, including maintaining confidential electronic records.
  • Supervisory skills: overseeing Registered Technicians, interns, and students; acting as Pharmacist-In-Charge when needed.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education and required certifications.
