Package Handler (Warehouse like) – FedEx – Clairmont, AB
FedEx Canada is seeking a part-time Package Handler (Warehouse like) to join our team in Clairmont, Alberta. This role involves the physical loading, unloading, and sorting of packages by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and placing packages in a safe and efficient manner.
Package Handlers may rotate through various assignments such as Loader, Unloader, Palletizer, Scan Weigh and Key (SWAK), Quality Assurance (QA), Facer, and Switcher. If you are a motivated team player, this is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Package Handler Role
As a Package Handler, your key responsibilities will include:
- Utilizing “hand-to-surface” methods for all package handling.
- Loading and unloading packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts, and load gratings.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling packages on a continuous basis for a shift of approximately 3-5 hours.
- Determining the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers, and sorting packages accordingly.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Specialized Package Handler Roles
In addition to the general responsibilities, the following specialized assignments require additional training:
- Package Handler Trainer: Trains other Package Handlers on loading, unloading, and palletizing techniques to ensure safe and efficient movement of packages.
- Package Handler – Air: Responsible for a multi-step inspection process to ensure packages that are air-restricted are not loaded into air containers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for the Package Handler Position
To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- Education: No minimum education required.
- Experience: No previous experience is required, though experience as a Package Handler with FedEx is preferred for specialized roles such as Trainer or Air.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift between 5 and 50 pounds continuously and operate equipment such as hand-held scanners and dock carts.
- Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
- Training: PHs operating switching equipment must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
Shift Information for the Package Handler Role
This is a part-time position with a shift schedule from Monday to Saturday, 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
