About the Role: Package Handler

As a Package Handler, your primary responsibility is the safe and efficient movement of packages through the facility. You’ll be working with conveyor systems, hand-held scanners, dock carts, and loading equipment, rotating through various positions such as Loader, Unloader, Palletizer, Scan Weigh and Key (SWAK), Quality Assurance (QA), Facer, and Switcher. Each shift typically runs approximately 3 to 5 hours, with the possibility of working more than one shift per day based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day, a Package Handler at FedEx Clairmont is on the move — physically lifting, sorting, scanning, and loading packages to keep shipments on schedule. These responsibilities are the backbone of FedEx’s delivery network, and attention to detail, physical stamina, and teamwork are essential to doing the job well.

• Load and unload packages from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor systems, and load gratings
• Lift, carry, push, and pull packages weighing between 5 and 50 lbs on a continuous basis throughout each shift
• Scan and sort packages accurately by reading labels, verifying numbers, and identifying the correct conveyor routes
• Apply hand-to-surface methods for all package handling to ensure safety and reduce damage
• Rotate through positions such as Loader, Unloader, Palletizer, SWAK, QA, Facer, and Switcher as assigned by management
• Follow all dock safety standards and workplace safety protocols consistently
• Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting smooth and efficient operations throughout the sort
