Responsibilities

This role covers a range of tasks across member service, optical fitting, payment processing, and department maintenance. Each responsibility contributes to delivering a smooth, professional experience for Costco members visiting the optical department.

  • Assist members in selecting eyeglass frames and lens options, ensuring prompt and courteous service
  • Process orders and over-the-counter merchandise, handling cash, cheques, credit, and debit payments accurately
  • Fit and adjust eyeglasses after order pick-up using a frame warmer and manual adjustments, under the supervision of a licensed Optician where permitted by provincial law
  • Order equipment, merchandise, and supplies by keying data into the computer system
  • Stock merchandise and supplies while following department standards for production, record keeping, merchandising, and storage
  • Maintain cleanliness of the department through spraying, wiping, mopping, emptying trash, and operating the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
  • Follow all safety and security procedures in accordance with department and warehouse standards
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate for this Optical Student position is currently enrolled or registered with a provincial optician college and holds the required provincial licence.
