About the Role: Manager, Front-End Development Practice

As the Manager, Front-End Development Practice, you’ll lead and grow a community of front-end developers across Canadian Tire’s technology organization. Your work will directly influence developer experience, code quality, and the adoption of modern tooling — including AI-assisted development and low-code solutions. You’ll own the standards and guardrails that keep front-end work consistent and aligned with enterprise architecture.

Beyond technical standards, this role involves meaningful people development. You’ll manage performance goals, collect feedback from squad leaders, and track practice-level OKRs. Collaboration is central to how this role operates — working closely with Enterprise Architecture, Platform teams, Agile Acceleration, and Tech Governance to ensure cohesive, enterprise-aligned delivery.

Canadian Tire offers a salary range of $79,000 to $131,000, with final compensation based on your experience, skills, market benchmarks, and role-specific factors. Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll balance practice leadership with hands-on people management and cross-functional collaboration. Your day-to-day involves everything from setting engineering standards to coaching developers and partnering with architecture and agile teams to ensure front-end work is consistent, efficient, and aligned with enterprise goals.

  • Lead and grow the front-end development practice, promoting a culture of excellence and agile leadership
  • Promote continuous learning through seminars, training programs, and mentorship across the practice
  • Support AI and low-code adoption to improve development efficiency and code quality
  • Track industry trends and evaluate their relevance for the front-end practice
  • Implement and maintain standards and guardrails for consistent front-end development across squads
  • Manage performance and development goals for front-end developers, incorporating feedback from squad leaders
  • Partner with Tech Governance and Architecture to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards
  • Collaborate with other practice managers to support integrated delivery and continuous improvement
  • Track and support achievement of practice-level OKRs including developer satisfaction, code quality, and AI tool adoption
