About the Role: Maintenance Assistant
As a Maintenance Assistant, your primary focus will be maintaining cleanliness and general upkeep throughout all areas of the Costco Optical Lab. You’ll be responsible for cleaning offices, break rooms, restrooms, the production floor, and other facility areas — keeping everything up to company standards to protect both staff and equipment.
Beyond daily cleaning tasks, this role involves operating trash and cardboard compactors, assisting with grounds maintenance, managing cleaning supply inventory, and performing minor repairs like concrete floor repairs and light fixture maintenance. You’ll also handle internal and external purchases and operate the facility’s internal maintenance system.

Responsibilities
This role covers a broad range of facility maintenance and janitorial tasks across the Costco Optical Lab. Each day brings a mix of routine cleaning duties and hands-on maintenance work, making it important to stay organised and responsive to the facility’s needs.
- Clean floors in offices, break rooms, restrooms, production floor, and other facility areas; change scrubber water frequently to minimise dust
- Empty and manage waste from designated areas throughout the lab; operate trash and cardboard compactors
- Respond promptly to spills and unexpected cleaning needs throughout the facility
- Maintain lighting by cleaning fixtures regularly, changing light bulbs, and washing windows, upper walls, and ceilings
- Assist with grounds maintenance including blowing leaves, picking up litter, roof checks, snow and ice removal, painting, and concrete floor repairs
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed; receive and place merchandise in appropriate departments
- Operate the internal maintenance system (Interal) and conduct store inventory
- Perform internal and external purchases as required
- Follow all safety and security procedures specific to the Optical Lab and general facility standards
- Provide courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers
Requirements / Skills

- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s licence required
