About the Role: Maintenance Assistant
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the cleanliness and general upkeep of all areas within the Optical Lab, ensuring that company standards are met and that both employees and equipment are protected. Daily duties include cleaning floors, emptying trash, operating compactors, maintaining light fixtures, and washing windows and upper walls. You’ll also respond quickly to spills and help with periodic tasks like vacuuming rafters and washing ceilings.
Beyond standard janitorial duties, this role involves supporting grounds maintenance — including leaf blowing, litter pickup, roof checks, and snow and ice removal — as well as assisting with painting, concrete floor repairs, and inventory management. The position also requires operating the internal maintenance management system and performing both internal and external purchases. Following all safety and security procedures at all times is a core expectation of the role.

Responsibilities
The Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role in keeping the Optical Lab facility safe, clean, and operational. On any given day, you’ll move between a range of cleaning, maintenance, and administrative tasks — all of which contribute directly to a safer and more efficient work environment.
- Clean floors throughout offices, break rooms, restrooms, the production floor, and other facility areas using appropriate equipment; change scrubber water frequently to minimize dust
- Empty trash from designated areas throughout the Lab and operate trash and cardboard compactors
- Respond promptly to spills to maintain a safe and hazard-free environment
- Maintain light fixtures by cleaning them regularly, replacing bulbs, and washing windows, upper walls, and ceilings; vacuum rafters periodically
- Assist with grounds maintenance including blowing leaves, picking up litter, conducting roof checks, and participating in snow and ice removal
- Support facility upkeep through painting assistance and concrete floor repairs throughout the Lab
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed; receive and place merchandise in the appropriate department
- Operate the internal maintenance system (Interal) and perform store inventory, internal, and external purchases
- Follow all Optical Lab safety and security procedures and provide courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers
Requirements / Skills
