About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent and Postal Clerk

This is a dual-function position, meaning you’ll gain exposure to both delivery operations and postal facility work. As a delivery agent, you’ll be the face of Canada Post in Kapuskasing — sorting mail at the depot, loading a postal vehicle, and delivering packages and letters to homes and businesses along your route. As a postal clerk, your work happens indoors, where you’ll sort, scan, sequence, and dispatch mail items across a variety of shifts including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day work in this role spans two areas of Canada Post’s operations. Whether you’re out delivering parcels on a community route or inside a sorting facility processing mail, accuracy, physical stamina, and dependability are what keep things running smoothly. Here’s a breakdown of what each function involves:

• Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot before heading out on your route
• Load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and responsibly
• Deliver mail and packages by foot or vehicle to residential and business customers along your assigned route
• Unload incoming mail and packages upon returning to the depot for future delivery
• Sort, scan, sequence, and batch mail items within a postal sorting facility
• Operate material handling equipment as required in the facility
• Receive and accept mail items, and perform transfers and dispatching of parcels and packets
• Complete reports and documentation as required by postal clerk duties

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for candidates who are physically capable, hold a valid driver’s licence, and can commit to an on-call schedule. If you’ve got experience in customer service, driving, or production environments, that’s a definite asset — though not required. Here’s what you’ll need to qualify:

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
• Physical ability to lift mail items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, year-round across the Kapuskasing area
• Availability to be on-call, including potential evenings and weekends
• English and/or French language proficiency — either language is acceptable for this role
• Customer service experience is considered an asset
• Delivery or driving experience is an advantage
