Working an evening shift from 7:00 PM to 3:30 AM, Monday to Friday, you’ll be part of a skilled maintenance team responsible for keeping UPS’s delivery fleet running safely and efficiently. About the Role: Heavy Duty Mechanic

As an Auto Technician at UPS Lachine, your primary focus will be the inspection, repair, and maintenance of the UPS vehicle fleet. You’ll conduct diagnostic tests to identify mechanical issues and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime. The work is done mainly indoors in a shop environment, with occasional outdoor exposure.

This is a unionized position governed by a Collective Agreement, which means your wage progression and entitlements are clearly defined. You’ll be expected to follow safety protocols, wear the UPS Auto Mechanic uniform, and adhere to the company’s Appearance Guidelines at all times. Benefits and Salary

This position starts at $36.00 per hour, with automatic progression to a top rate of $43.49/hour after completing 12 months of service post-seniority. Pay is issued weekly every Friday. Additional compensation includes a tool allowance and safety boots allowance per year. Paid vacation scales from 2 weeks after 1 year up to 6 weeks after 25 years of service. Responsibilities

Day to day, this role is all about keeping a large commercial fleet in top working condition. From routine preventive maintenance to complex diagnostics, your work directly supports on-time deliveries across the region. Here’s what you’ll be doing on the floor:

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain UPS diesel, gasoline, and propane vehicles in a regular and timely manner
  • Perform diagnostic tests to accurately identify mechanical issues and determine the appropriate course of repair
  • Operate and road-test company vehicles within UPS facilities and on public roads to verify repairs and performance
  • Document maintenance activities and ensure all work meets UPS standards and safety requirements
  • Adhere to workplace safety protocols and wear the required UPS Auto Mechanic uniform in compliance with Appearance Guidelines

Requirements / Skills

UPS is looking for a qualified mechanic who brings both technical expertise and a professional attitude to the shop floor. The ideal candidate holds the proper trade licensing, is comfortable working evening shifts, and can communicate effectively in both official languages given regular interactions with clients outside of Québec.

  • Valid PEP card — heavy duty or light duty mechanic licence required
  • Fluency in French and English — required due to regular interactions with clients outside of Québec (approximately 40% of the time)
  • Clean driver’s abstract — no violations in the past 12 months, no more than 2 violations in the past 36 months, no accidents, and maximum 5 demerit points over the past 3 years (abstract must be obtained within the last month before your interview date)
  • Possession of essential trade tools and equipment needed to perform the job
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evening and/or night shifts
  • Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills to manage multiple repairs efficiently
  • Must pass a pre-employment road test prior to starting the position
