About the Role: Field Safety Supervisor
As Field Safety Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for promoting occupational health and safety awareness throughout the facility. This includes conducting regular safety inspections of operations, equipment, and workspaces, enforcing DOT and OSHA regulations, and leading Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) programs on-site. You’ll also coordinate safety training sessions for management, supervisors, and frontline workers — including new hire orientations.
You’ll act as the site’s primary liaison during government inspections related to safety, environmental, or ergonomic matters, and work closely with the functional HSE team to maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Collaboration with Human Resources to manage return-to-work programs following workplace injuries is also a key part of this position.

Responsibilities
The Field Safety Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment for all facility associates and drivers. From leading safety observations to facilitating investigations and managing training programs, your work directly impacts the safety culture and operational integrity of the site.
- Promote occupational health and safety awareness and maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the facility
- Conduct ongoing safety inspections of facilities, operations, and equipment to ensure a safe and compliant working environment
- Monitor and enforce safety regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA requirements
- Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions for management, supervisors, and workers, including new hire safety orientations
- Implement and maintain internal safety programs and procedures in alignment with company, customer, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up
- Lead the on-site Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) program through scheduled observations of warehouse workers and drivers
- Administer MSDS programs and ensure compliance with Hours of Service and occupational injury/illness recording and reporting regulations
- Liaise with the functional HSE team and serve as site contact during government inspections related to safety, environmental, or ergonomic issues
- Support Human Resources with return-to-work programs following workplace accidents or injuries
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in warehouse, distribution, or logistics safety, combined with strong organizational skills and a proactive safety mindset. DHL values professionals who can balance regulatory knowledge with practical, on-the-floor leadership.
- High school diploma required; a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is preferred
- Formal safety certification is preferred
- 1–3 years of safety experience, including administration of site-based safety programs, is required
- 5–7 years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience required (or equivalent in inventory control or a related discipline)
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT compliance, and Hours of Service requirements
- Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions to closure
- Strong communication skills to effectively deliver safety training to diverse teams
