As an EOT, you will work on high-availability systems and ensure Amazon’s data centers maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This includes maintaining and troubleshooting systems such as diesel generators, UPS, PDU, HVAC units, pumps, VFDs, and automation controls. You’ll also be a first responder to any issues that could impact operations, while helping innovate and optimize costs across facilities.

About the Role

The Engineering Operations Technician serves as a technical resource within AWS data centers, overseeing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response. This position requires the ability to work at heights, lift equipment, bend/twist during repairs, and operate in challenging environments. Due to the sensitive nature of the role, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, including generators, UPS, PDU, and HVAC equipment.
  • Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and safety checks.
  • Respond immediately to operational issues to minimize downtime risks.
  • Support fire and life safety systems to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with AWS teams to implement facility improvements and innovations.
  • Work safely at heights, with small components, and across diverse environments.

Basic Qualifications

  • Relevant technical experience in electrical, mechanical, or building systems.
  • Ability to bend, twist, lift, and manipulate small wires and tools.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on uneven terrain, and in physically demanding environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in data center or critical facility engineering.
  • Proven ability to perform physical tasks throughout the day without fatigue.
