This role is all about unloading and loading packages from trailers, air canisters, and other vehicles in a fast-moving warehouse environment. About the Role: Early Morning Preload
As a Pre-loader at UPS Nanaimo, your shift starts before most people are awake. You’ll be responsible for the physical unloading and loading of packages weighing between 10 and 70 lbs, ensuring each parcel is accurately scanned, sorted, and positioned based on postal codes, addresses, and package dimensions. Familiarity with routing charts and postal codes is part of the job, and you’ll develop this knowledge quickly with on-the-job training.
Working in close proximity to conveyor belts, roller systems, and warehouse equipment, this position demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety protocols. Teamwork is central to this environment — everyone plays a role in keeping the flow of packages moving efficiently and safely each morning.
Benefits and Salary
UPS offers a starting rate of $18.50/hour with weekly pay and a guaranteed wage progression plan. - Lift, lower, and move packages weighing between 10 and 70 lbs unassisted on a regular basis
- Scan and sort packages accurately based on postal codes, addresses, and package dimensions
- Interpret and apply postal codes, routing charts, and maps to direct packages correctly
- Operate safely alongside conveyor belts, roller systems, and other warehouse equipment
- Collaborate with teammates to maintain efficient and safe package transfer throughout the facility
Requirements / Skills
UPS is looking for reliable, physically fit candidates who are comfortable in a fast-paced warehouse setting and can commit to early morning hours. You don’t need prior experience — training is provided — but a strong work ethic and the ability to follow safety procedures are essential.
