Responsibilities

The day-to-day work of a Deli Associate at Walmart Vernon blends food preparation, customer interaction, and department upkeep. Every task — from rotating stock to slicing deli meats — contributes to a safe, welcoming, and well-run department that customers can count on.

• Zone the department to maintain an organized, well-presented deli area throughout your shift

• Adhere to food safety standards including cold chain compliance, thermometer calibration, temperature recording, product rotation, and sell-by date monitoring
• Take and prepare customer orders including slicing meats and cheeses, frying chicken, and assembling specialty deli items
• Operate deli equipment such as slicers, stackers, rotisserie ovens, and deep fryers safely and efficiently
• Fill and display prepared salads and side dishes for the deli case and specialty customer orders
• Assist the front end with price checks when needed
• Keep the area clean and safe — free of debris, foreign objects, and liquids at all times
