About the Role: Customer Engineering Manager III, Greenfield
As a Customer Engineering Manager at Google Cloud, you’ll lead a team of subject matter experts dedicated to accelerating workload migration and removing technical blockers for customers. Your team will work hands-on with clients to deliver trusted technical and solution advice across the full Google Cloud portfolio. Responsibilities

- Lead and develop a team of Customer Engineers, focusing on team culture, talent strategy, and skills development to deliver successful cloud transformation outcomes
- Foster customer partnership and provide thought leadership related to cloud, cross-pillar solutions, and expansion opportunities to drive technical wins
- Partner with sales to define technical go-to-market strategies and delivery plans, with a focus on winning new workloads and driving consumption within existing ones
- Balance technical leadership with operational excellence — lead workload and opportunity review meetings and provide insight into achieving technical agreements and migration strategies
- Work cross-functionally across Google, partners, and internal teams to identify and resolve technical roadblocks for customers, prospects, and partners
- Determine alignment, coverage, and staffing needs through planning stages to ensure the team is set up for success
Requirements / Skills
Google is seeking a technically credible leader with a proven track record in cloud architecture and people management. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with enterprise cloud solutions alongside the interpersonal and strategic skills to inspire a high-performing team and earn the trust of executive-level stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field
- 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
- Leadership experience including people management, team lead responsibilities, mentorship, or coaching
- Cloud and infrastructure expertise spanning cloud engineering, on-premise engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms
- Customer engagement skills — experience leading technical conversations, demos, prototyping, or workshops with customers
- Pre-sales management experience within a professional services or sales engineering team is strongly preferred
- Executive communication skills — ability to engage and present to technical stakeholders and executive leaders, delivering compelling messages by audience
- Experience with software lifecycles, building tools, and architecting/developing software for scalable, distributed systems (data platforms, AI/ML, infrastructure) is a strong asset
