In this role, you’ll be at the heart of FedEx Canada’s freight operations — loading, unloading, scanning, sorting, and transporting cargo within and between facilities. The schedule is Saturday to Wednesday, 2:00 AM to 10:00 AM, making it a great fit for someone who prefers an early-morning shift with their weekends starting on Wednesday.

About the Role: Cargo Handler

As a Cargo Handler at the Montreal-Est facility, your primary focus will be on the efficient movement of freight through the facility. You’ll be responsible for loading and unloading freight, using scanning technology to track packages, and sorting shipments accurately so they reach their destinations on time. You’ll also transport freight within and between facilities, making sure the flow of goods remains smooth and organized.

Working at FedEx means operating within a structured, safety-first environment. You’ll be expected to comply with Canadian Customs regulations and complete all required basic and recurrency training. Responsibilities

As a Cargo Handler at FedEx Montreal-Est, your day-to-day will revolve around keeping freight moving efficiently and accurately through the facility. These responsibilities are critical to ensuring customers receive their shipments on time, every time — which is what FedEx is all about.

• Load and unload freight within the FedEx facility, ensuring cargo is handled safely and efficiently
• Scan and sort shipments accurately using facility scanning equipment to maintain tracking integrity
• Transport freight within and between facilities using appropriate equipment and vehicles
• Operate safely in compliance with workplace health and safety standards and FedEx protocols
• Complete training requirements including all basic and recurrency programs to maintain certifications
• Handle heavy packages — lifting up to 70 lbs independently and manoeuvring packages up to 150 lbs with proper equipment
• Support customs compliance by working in accordance with Canadian Customs regulations where applicable

Requirements / Skills

FedEx is looking for a reliable, physically capable team player who takes pride in their work. The ideal candidate brings a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and the ability to stay focused during early-morning shifts in a fast-paced environment. Bilingualism in French and English is required for candidates residing in Quebec.

• High School Diploma or GED — preferred educational background for this role
• Valid full driver’s licence with a clean driving record (two or fewer violations/accidents in the past 24 months)
• Physical capability to lift 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment
• Good interpersonal skills — ability to work effectively within a team-oriented warehouse environment
• Knowledge of FedEx Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations is considered an asset
• Bilingual (French and English) — mandatory for applicants residing in the province of Quebec
• PC/Windows proficiency — ability to operate in a Windows environment for scanning and tracking systems
