About the Role: Building Equipment Maintenance Technician
As a Data Centre Electrical and Mechanical Technician at AWS, no two days are identical. You’ll manage the preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems, respond swiftly to incidents that could affect facility availability, and coordinate with subcontractors during scheduled maintenance and service calls. Your technical knowledge of low and high voltage electrical systems, cooling, ventilation, and generators will be put to work in one of the world’s most advanced infrastructure environments.
Safety and collaboration are central to this role. You’ll conduct detailed technical inspections to ensure equipment health and workplace safety, while working closely with global teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Strong bilingual communication skills in French and English are essential, as this role involves regular interaction with Amazon teams and stakeholders across Canada and internationally.

- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems to ensure continuous facility operation
- Diagnose and resolve critical technical issues promptly to minimise any risk to facility availability or performance
- Schedule and accompany subcontractors during maintenance visits and service calls, ensuring work meets AWS standards
- Conduct detailed technical inspections to verify equipment performance, health, and compliance with safety requirements
- Respond proactively to incidents that may affect data centre availability, applying sound technical judgement under pressure
- Propose and implement cost-effective and sustainable operational improvements aligned with AWS’s continuous improvement culture

Requirements / Skills
AWS is looking for a technically curious and reliable candidate with solid hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical systems. Whether your background is conventional or atypical, what matters most is your passion for critical infrastructure and your ability to perform under pressure. Bilingualism in French and English is a firm requirement for this role given the scope of interaction with global and cross-provincial teams.
- Understanding of electrical systems (low and high voltage) and mechanical systems including cooling, ventilation, and generators
- Bilingual communication skills in French and English — required due to interaction with Amazon entities globally and across Canadian provinces
- Availability for on-call or rotating shift schedules to support 24/7/365 data centre coverage
- Physical capability to lift up to 49 lbs and work safely at heights
- Post-secondary education in electricity, electromechanics, or mechanics (preferred asset)
- Experience in data centre operations, industrial maintenance, or mission-critical environments (strong asset)
- Knowledge of power distribution and industrial cooling systems, along with proficiency in maintenance and analysis computer tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment
