About the Role: Area Manager II
As an Area Manager II at an Amazon fulfillment centre, your day-to-day involves acting as a strategic operations leader responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery performance at the department level. You’ll run planning sessions, coach your team through operational challenges, and develop their leadership capabilities so the entire department runs at its best.
You’ll leverage data-driven decision-making and advanced analytics to diagnose root causes of performance gaps, facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership, and implement scalable process improvements that can impact 200+ associates across multiple workflows. Benefits and Salary
Amazon offers a competitive base salary of $75,000 to $105,000 CAD annually for this position in Brampton, Ontario. As part of Amazon’s total compensation package, you may also be eligible for sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities
The Area Manager II plays a central role in keeping Amazon’s fulfillment operations running smoothly and safely. From leading your team on the floor to collaborating with cross-functional partners, every responsibility in this role contributes directly to Amazon’s commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
- Lead and mentor a team of up to 80 hourly associates, keeping engagement, morale, and performance at their peak during every shift
- Drive safety, quality, and productivity standards across your department, ensuring customer delivery promises are consistently met
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources teams to develop and execute business objectives
- Diagnose performance gaps using advanced analytics and data-driven tools, identifying root causes and implementing targeted solutions
- Facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership to communicate department-level goals and progress
- Implement scalable process improvements that could impact 200+ associates across multiple workflows
- Conduct planning sessions and coach team members through operational challenges while developing their leadership capabilities
- Perform physical duties including lifting up to 49 lbs, standing or walking for up to 12 hours, and working in variable temperature environments
Requirements / Skills
Amazon is looking for a results-oriented leader with a proven track record in people management and operations. The ideal candidate brings both the analytical mindset to review department-wide metrics and the interpersonal skills to inspire and develop a large, diverse team in a dynamic fulfillment environment.
- 2+ years of employee and performance management experience — a foundational requirement for leading large hourly teams effectively
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon blue badge/FTE experience
- Flexible availability including weekends, nights, and holidays to support operational demands
- Experience managing large teams of 50+ members is a strong asset, particularly in fast-paced environments
- Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or process improvement experience is highly valued for driving continuous operational gains
- Background in logistics, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, or hospitality gives candidates a meaningful head start in this role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building trust across teams and engaging with senior leadership
